Age Spot Cream
One of the tell-tale signs of aging are dreaded age spots. Age spots, also known as liver spots or “sun spots” usually appear on areas of the skin most often exposed to ultraviolet radiation, or sunlight.
While agespots themselves are not harmful, since they are an indication of age, many people look for solutions to remove or diminish the intensity of their appearance on the face or backs of hands. One of the easiest ways that most people try first is to get an age spot cream at the local pharmacy, drugstore or cosmetics counter and attempt to fade them away over time or outright age spot removal.
As mentioned above, age spots quite frequently appear on the backs of hands. While hands are exposed to intense UV most people do not apply sunscreen to their hands, and the appearance of sun spots can take many years to form.
While many different fade creams, and sun spot reduction treatments are available, all age spot creams are not created equally, and only some can help you fade your unsightly skin blemishes without risking further damage to your skin — or your health.
The most desirable age spot cream is one that is effective with a minimum of harsh, toxic, or caustic chemical additives. Unfortunately, since the production of melanin and the brown spots that characterize aging of the skin are formed several layers under the top layer of dermis. Because of this, many of the topical creams used for spot reduction are reduced in effectiveness due to poor penetration. In addition, those that are most effective (due to strength) can often cause negative side effects or cause skin irritations. The problem with many skin creams is that the ingredients just don’t work very well.
As mentioned earlier, the cause of these spots is an over production of melanin in the skin. Therefore, an effective age spot cream will reduce or inhibit the production of melanin.
There are several ingredients that can reduce the production of melanin in the skin, including some ‘natural’ ingredients. However, because of the difficulty in getting a topical ointment deep under the first layers of skin, you will need to use the cream consistently over time on a regular basis before you will notice the spots disappear.
An effective age spot cream also often contains natural Vitamin E and/or Aloe. Natural Vitamin E will improve the overall the health of your skin. In addition, it is rich in antioxidants.
