Age Spots Treatment
The treatment of age spots today usually fall into one of three main strategies.
Age Spot Creams, Sun spot lotions, and fade creams or vanishing creams
Creams have been developed over the years in an attempt to minimize the size and color of agespots. Most of these externally applied creams and lotions have the benefit of being less damaging, harmful, or painful than expensive chemical facial peels and laser treatments. Most of these creams are available in over the counter (OTC) non-prescription dosages, however until recently they all suffered from one of a couple of ‘fatal flaws’
Those that are the most gentle, just flatly don’t work as advertised
Those that work a little better are highly toxic, shown to be carcinogens and are either banned or their use is severly controlled for saftey reasons.
Most age spot treatment creams don’t work very well
This could be due to several factors. bleeching creams are not working at the mechanism of action. rather than attacking the cause age spot, sun spot and liver spot formation, they are acting against the symptom, rather than the cause.
The sun spot creams suffer from poor absorption into the skin. The production of melanin actually happens beneath the initial layers of the skin. For any vanishing cream or bleaching agent to be effective it has to be able to penetrate the skin down to the level where the pigmentation is being altered. Most creams only work at a very surface level, and many of the active ingredients aren’t able to penetrate the dermus far enough in order to be considered very effective.
Local skin irritations & allergic reactions.
Because so little of most active ingredients applied topically can reach the under layers of the skin where the ‘action’ is taking place and your age spots are being formed, the traditional solution was to use harsher and harsher chemicals in greater and greater amounts. This meant that a fair number of women found that bleaching creams and treatments were either irritating their skin or creating allergic reactions
Unsafe ingredients
In the quest for every more effective age spots treatments, cosmetic companies started experimenting with stronger chemicals — a few of these were shown to cause cancer, and several were shown to effect your genes (transmutigenetic), most notably …… has been shown to cause cancer and is thus either banned or only available in lighter concentrations which limits its already dubious effectiveness.
Some of the traditionally used active ingredients in older spot vanishing solutions were shown to be highly carcinogenic. What is needed is a small, deeply penetrating, gentle, safe alternative, that actually works!
